Oxfordshire County Council’s new booking system for household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) became mandatory on 14 January 2026. All visitors must book a slot online or by phone (01865 519800) in advance. Private householders can dispose of domestic waste for free but are limited to one booking per seven-day period and must show proof of address. For DIY/construction waste, the free allowance is restricted to two 50-litre rubble bags (or equivalent) or one bulky item per week; excess is charged.No-limits alternative: For larger clearances, use a qualified, licenced house clearance company or registered waste carrier. These commercial operators bypass household limits and allowances but charge private fees. Residents must verify the company’s licence with the Environment Agency. The system reduces queues and prevents trade abuse.
